Ivy is a symbol of old wealth and dignity. Ivy brings forth images of colleges and frat boys. The Ivy League schools include the likes of Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia and others. They derived their names from their towering brick buildings that are covered in ivy. These universities are known for their academic achievements and social prestige.
The use of ivy as a item of decor lends a dignity and elegance to a room. The ivy can be sophisticated or it can be more classical stencil type ivy. The use of ivy in dining rooms is particularly fitting when the room is heavy with dark furniture and other signs of elegance.
Kitchens do well with a splash of ivy on the walls. If you’re not interested in painting the entire kitchen, then put up a counted cross stitch pattern of ivy. This one is designed to be personalized with a lot of space for your name or even your favorite Bible verse.
