The Return of the Daffodil

The story goes that the Narcissus flower, which can be known as the jonquil and the daffodil as they are all part of the narcissus plant family, was the result of the fall of Narcissus himself.

According to the story, Narcissus of Greek mythology was so taken by his reflection that he spent hours and hours admiring himself in the pools in the gardens. He was so captured by his mirror image that he fell into the pool and drowned. In his memory, the Narcissus flower bloomed when he fell.

These bulb flowers are some of the first to raise their lovely petals to the sky when spring is making its way across the snowy fields and yards. They are mostly yellow and white, but can be found with deep orange accents.

Aren’t they pretty?
